Acupuncture with Chinese Medicine

Your first visit includes the whole-body examination, review of your medical history and acupuncture treatment. Please read Patient Visit Guide on what to expect and how to prepare for your first visit. Your follow-up appointment will follow your treatment plan and include acupuncture and other therapeutic modalities of Chinese medicine such as liniments, plasters, herbal patches, dietary therapy, qi gong, moxibustion, gua sha, body or facial cupping, etc. depending on the condition treated.

Acupuncture for preventing illness 

Office:  30min 3 sessions/$435  ||  30min 5 sessions/$690   BOOK NOW 

This treatment is designed to prevent winter illness by taking preventative measures in the summer. It consists of 3 Chinese medicine sessions that need to be scheduled for 3 nine-day periods after summer solstice. You can book the 1st appointment online and subsequent appointment in person. The treatment includes acupuncture and celestial moxa sticking therapy. 

Treatments are to be scheduled during the Dog Days of summer. For this year the periods for office treatment are as follows:

1. The beginning (chufu): June 25th (Tue), July 7th (Sun), or July 14th (Sun)

2. The middle (zhongfu): July 23rd (Tue) or July 28th (Sun), 2024 

3. Booster patch: Aug 4th (Sun), 2024

4. The end (mofu): Aug 11th (Tue) or Aug 18th (Sun), 2024.

The timing between all 4 periods should be between 10 and 20 days apart. Booster patch strengthen the effect of the treatment and it does not occur every year. 2024 is a lucky year because there is an extra day!

Acupuncture for neurological conditions

This service is specifically designed for patients with neurological conditions, especially post-stroke or traumatic head/brain injury who are interested in rehabilitation to improve their symptoms such as paralysis, spasticity, impaired sensation, etc. (see the complete list below). Your first visit includes the whole body examination including review of your medical history, acupuncture/electro-acupuncture and neuromuscular re-education treatment. Your follow-up appointment will follow your treatment plan and include acupuncture and specific guidance to your rehabilitation with Chinese medicine.

Acupuncture will not restore function that has been lost due to the disease or injury process. However, it may be able to modify activity in those systems that are still functioning to some extent. The mechanism involves local, segmental, extra-segmental and central regulatory effects.

Acumassage

This treatment involves a combination of a full body massage and acupuncture in time ratio 3:2. It is best for a specific musculoskeletal complaint of acute or chronic origin or for stress relief. It is especially helpful for conditions that failed to resolve with a single modality. A health history will be taken, and exam will help assess the root cause. Acupuncture is ideal for accessing deep muscle layers and release fascia.
